The Kluane Dana Shaw Corporation (KDSC) was created with the mandate to be the for-profit, wealth generating business arm for the Kluane First Nation (KFN). KFN council signed a Memorandum of Understanding with KDSC to set out the mandate, and later passed a resolution to approve an 19145 Yukon Inc. Investment Policy and transfer signing authority to the Board of Directors for the Strategic Economic Development Investment Fund (SEDIF) account.
By 2014, 19145 Yukon Inc. changed its name to KDSC and opened itself for business by making its first round of business investments.
By 2015, the Board of Directors decided to split in two to manage the mandates of KSDC and Kluane Community Development Corporation (KCDC) separately.
In 2016, KFN council passed another resolution to approve a reorganization that setup a new corporate structure. As part of this reorganization, KSDC and KCDC set up limited partnerships with Kluane Dana Trust.
